Totara Springs is the largest centre of its kind in New Zealand and is the ultimate venue for church retreats, school camps, sports activities, business conferences, artistic events, holiday camps and family reunions.  We are situated in a beautiful setting, nestled at the foot of the Kaimai mountain ranges in Matamata. There are 90 acres of park-like grounds and native bush with streams, walks and bush trails. We have a large indoor sports and activity centre and breakaway areas, as well as a large hot pool fed by natural springs.  We have guests of all ages who travel from afar to enjoy our beautiful setting and outstanding hospitality. 

About the role: 

This is a part-time position (minimum of 24 hours per week) as part of the catering team at Totara Springs.   

The purpose of the role is to: 

  • Support the catering team by carrying out administrative duties 

  • To assist in the ordering of products used in the kitchen 

  • Provide assistance in completing the food control plan 

  • Assist in rostering of the team 

Your duties will include but not limited to: 

  • Assisting the team leader to roster the team for shifts, days off, sick leave 

  • Ensuring product for the kitchen is ordered in a timely manner for the smooth running of the kitchen 

  • Assist the team leader with the monitoring and implementation of training plans for the team 

  • Coordinating group information with bookings for the catering team, e.g group numbers and special diets  

  • Carry out the administration and monitoring of the food control plan (FCP)

  • Comply with Health & Safety policy and standards 

About you: 

You enjoy the fast-paced nature of a busy kitchen and understand the systems and processes involved in running a well-organised kitchen. Helping people to do their work efficiently brings you a sense of achievement. You are known for your effective and clear communication. You have an eye for detail and are able to problem-solve.

You fulfil the following requirements: 

  • Previous experience working in a kitchen environment 

  • Proficient in Microsoft and Google suites 

  • Good communication skills 

  • Good time-management skills 

  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements for kitchens
