Tōtara Springs is the largest centre of its kind in New Zealand and is the ultimate venue for church retreats, school camps, sports activities, business conferences, artistic events, holiday camps and family reunions.  We are situated in a beautiful setting, nestled at the foot of the Kaimai mountain ranges in Matamata. There are 90 acres of park-like grounds and native bush with streams, walks and bush trails. We have a large indoor sports and activity centre and breakaway areas, as well as a large hot pool fed by natural springs.  We have guests of all ages who travel from afar to enjoy our beautiful setting and outstanding hospitality.

People, Leadership and Culture

  • To support the Senior Leadership Team in providing leadership and direction to the staff consistent with Totara Springs strategic direction.

  • Encourage networking with kindred organisations (eg Christian Camping New Zealand) to foster staff awareness of industry trends, training and resources.

  • To ensure that there is effective communication between each of the Team co-ordinators and their respective team members.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews for team members. Arrange training and professional development opportunites as appropriate.

Instructing/Host Team

  • Work with the Instructing Team Leader to ensure that all external audits are prepared for in a way that meets or exceeds the requirements.

Health and Safety Management

  • Chair the Health and Safety Committee.

  • Actively participates in their health and safety (H&S) responsibilities as outlined in the H&S Management Programme.


  • Investigate how technology could be utilised to improve the delivery or management of camps. Provide recommendations to the Leadership Team and Senior Leadership Team for consideration.

  • Experience in Venue360/ Life would be an advantage

  • Proficient in using tools such as JotForm, Microsoft Office, and Google Sheets.

  • Excellent typing skills

About the role:

This is a full-time position as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) at Totara Springs.

The purpose of the role is:

  • To manage the quality and delivery of all Totara Springs services to people who use the site in accordance with Totara Springs Christian philosophy and Staff Policy.

  • To be responsible for ensuring the satisfaction of all groups who come to Totara Springs without compromising our  mission

  • To support the Strategic Planning process for Totara Springs Christian Centre (e.g. input into the Senior Leadership Team and Property Development Team)

  • Establish and develop a cohesive team among the Instructing and wider teams in a way that creates life changing experiences and shares God’s love with our guests.  

  • To support and promote the Camp’s Mission, Vision, Purpose and Values Statement

  • To be committed to the Totara Springs Beliefs Statement, and the Trust Deed under which the Camp functions.

About you:

You value the delivery of high-quality services.  You are not afraid to take initiative and roll up your sleeves to work through your task list.
