Junior Kids Camps / More Information

Junior Kids Camp

Our OSCAR-funded Junior Kids Camp is especially designed and run for school year 2-4's (approx 6-8 years old) with a shorter camp (two nights / three days) to help introduce kids to camping. There is a higher ratio of staff/leaders to campers, and activities aimed at this younger age group. The kids get to try some of our camp activities including: the hot pool, foam slide and go karts. They also get the opportunity to play creative games and do activities where they can build on cooperation and team work. We have a daily devotional time which is aimed at making the Bible relevant and fun for kids, where they are encouraged to join in and ask questions.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What does my child need to bring to camp?

There is a gear checklist which you can print here.

How many children come to camp?

Junior Kids Camp has a maximum of 60 kids in attendance

Do you provide a Bus to and from camp from Auckland?

For Junior Kids camp we do not provide a bus to camp however do have a return bus from camp to Drury Autobahn outside BP. There are not tickets issued for the bus.  The cost ($30) is added to your camp fees.  Please indicate in your camp registration form if you would like your child to come on the bus.  We will provide all of the pick up/drop off information etc with your camp confirmation email.

What is and how do I apply for an OSCAR subsidy?

The OSCAR (Out of School Care and Recreation) subsidy is for children aged between 5 to 13.  It can help with the cost of care during the school holidays (up to 50 hours per week).  To find out more about childcare assistance while you’re working or to download forms please visit the Work and Income OSCAR page.

If you indicate on the registration form that you will be applying for a subsidy we will send you Part C (Programme Supervisor) of the OSCAR form in the post (we can email it to you if you prefer).  Once you have completed your section of the OSCAR form and have received our section you can take these into your local WINZ branch for them to process.  In most cases WINZ process payments for camp during or after camp – we will send you an invoice if there is an additional amount for you to pay.

Where does my child sleep?

We have cabins with bunks in them.  We have two leaders per cabin group and up to 9 children.  The cabins are heated and have bathroom facilities close by.

Is the Devotional time compulsory?

Yes.  These times (usually for an hour per day) are an important part of the culture at camp.

Can I drop my child off early or pick them up late? (The sign in and sign out time doesn’t suit me.)

No.  If you are not able to come at the times specified please nominate another person (friend or family member) to sign your child in or out.  This person must be older than 18 and be specified on the registration form as being permitted to sign the child out of camp (if they are not listed as such we will not allow your child to be signed out by them without seeking your verbal permission).

Does my child need to bring food to camp?

No all food is provided for at camp.  Please do not bring any additional food/lollies or drinks to camp.

Should/Can my child bring money to camp?

No.  Everything is catered for and we do not have a shop on site.
